British Birdwatching Fair 2012
The British Birdwatching Fair (BBF) is regarded as the biggest international fair devoted to ornithological tourism and will be held between 17th to 19th of August. This annual event is organised in collaboration with the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) – regarded as the biggest non-governmental organization for environment in the world. The fair, for the enthusiasts, the professionals, or simply for the people interested in birds and birdwatching, has attained over the years a greater and greater dimension.

The BBF always takes place during three days in August, in the nature reserve of Egleton, Oakham, Rutland in England. This reserve is located at approximately three and a half hours away from London and 45 minutes from Birmingham. The location of the event, however, does not prevent thousands of visitors from attending it every year. Last year there were nearly 22000 visitors and the Friday’s record was broken. This fair keeps attracting thousands of European birdwatchers, being the most important European fair devoted to this theme.

In this fair, the visitor can check almost 400 stands, where every kind of companies and entities related to birdwatching are represented, from optics to touristic animation companies, NGO, books, countries, regions.

Look for us in Marquee 1, stand nº 16 and 17. We will be representing Algarve and Azores, the two best places to birding in Portugal.

Role of SPEA in 2012

Once again, SPEA will be present in BBF with a double stand, together with the Algarve Promotion Bureau and Azores Tourism. Come and visit the biggest birdwatching fair in Europe! It is unique and very interesting for not only birds but also nature lovers.
