Primary school I
Name: A world ever changing… Chats and games about climate change and how it affects biodiversity
Target audience: Primary school, years 5-6
This activity is aimed at kids aged between 11 and 13 (30 kids max. per group)
Duration: 60 minutes (can be adjusted, if necessary)




Goals:
- Integrate the climate change and biodiversity subjects, using as example species existing in Portugal, improving knowledge about ecological diversity and its importance.
- Provide knowledge about climate change causes and effects, the means to address them and what local problems can result from this phenomenon.
- Promote species conservation, through a quiz game and activities (with possible visits to parks or playgrounds).
- Promote better citizenship.

Description:
- Informal lecture about biodiversity and its relationship with climate change, with special focus on birds, highlighting the importance of biodiversity for life cycles, using a bird as the main character.
- Activities that highlight the importance of biodiversity (“Who knows the most?” – Team quiz game on this subject; “What to do differently?” – identifying good and bad citizenship practices. There are prizes for the highest scoring team.
- One feeder and one bird house made of recycled materials will be given at the end, to be placed at a spot suggested by the SPEA technician.

- Video projector
- Clean recyclable materials
