Introduction

The Nocturnal Birds Working Group was created in 2007 due to the interest of some members of SPEA in this group of birds. Its aim is to promote the study and conservation of Strigiformes (owls) and Caprimulgiformes (nightjars) in Portugal.

Main goals of GTAN

1. To increase the knowledge about nocturnal birds (Strigiformes and Caprimulgiformes) in Portugal, through the promotion of studies on these species.

2. To identify conservation priorities and promote the implementation of conservation measures focused on nocturnal birds.

3. To compile and disseminate existing information on nocturnal birds in Portugal.

4. To promote actions to raise awareness about nocturnal birds.

Coordination of GTAN

Inês Roque, Ricardo Tomé, Rui Lourenço

The GTAN is open to the participation of SPEA members interested in nocturnal birds and in contributing to the group's goals.
